Description
Sigracet 38 BC is a durable non-woven carbon fiber paper featuring an integrated Microporous Layer (MPL) and a 5 wt% PTFE hydrophobic treatment. With a total thickness of approximately 325 µm, it provides excellent structural integrity and water management characteristics, making it a reliable Gas Diffusion Layer (GDL) solution for demanding fuel cell applications.
The PTFE treatment enhances water repellency, helping to prevent flooding in the porous carbon substrate and maintaining consistent gas diffusion and current distribution throughout the fuel cell stack. This ensures long-term operational stability even under variable humidity and load conditions.
Developed as part of the Sigracet 38 Series, this material is engineered for superior manufacturing consistency and performance reliability. Key advantages include:
- Excellent inter-lot and intra-lot uniformity, with variability controlled within ±10% (2 sigma)
- Enhanced surface flatness, improving mechanical contact and compression behavior
- Reduced defect rates during production, ensuring consistent roll quality
- Stable performance across a wide range of environmental and operational conditions
Sigracet 38 BC represents a cost-effective, high-performance alternative to conventional woven carbon paper GDL materials, offering a robust solution for fuel cell stack developers seeking reliability and scalability.
